Shire Family Medical is a family-owned, AGPAL-accredited GP medical centre in Sutherland — led by Dr Louis Traynor and registered nurse Rebel Traynor. As Sutherland Shire locals and parents themselves, Louis and Rebel operate this practice around one belief: that patients deserve to feel heard, supported and genuinely cared for over time.

Unwell Clinic (Cold & Flu Appointments)
Dedicated priority GP appointments for patients with cold and flu symptoms. Assessment, advice and testing if clinically indicated.
BRAVE Clinic for Blood Test Anxiety & Needle Phobia
The BRAVE Clinic at Shire Family Medical is designed to support patients who may find blood tests particularly difficult.
Aesthetic Medicine and Hyperhidrosis Clinic
Private consultations for facial aesthetic concerns and excessive sweating, with personalised assessment and discussion of suitable management options.
Check-ups & GP Health Assessments
Age‑appropriate health reviews, including general check‑ups, 45‑year health assessments, and 75‑year Medicare annual assessments. RMS medicals are also available.
Paediatrics (Children’s GP Care)
Assessment, investigation, and management for infants through adolescents. Includes the 6‑week check–up before first immunisation.
Children's Immunisations & Vaccinations
We provide the full schedule of childhood immunisations on-site, in line with the National Immunisation Program.
Women's Health (GP Services)
Support through pre‑, peri‑, and post‑menopausal care; pregnancy support; osteoporosis prevention; and health advice and support across the lifespan.
Contraception Clinic
GP consultations for contraception advice, prescription options and longer-acting contraceptive methods, including Implanon insertion and removal where clinically appropriate.
IUD Insertion & Removal
GP-led consultations for IUD advice, suitability assessment, insertion and removal, including procedure preparation, risks and follow-up care.
Men's Health (GP Services)
Health assessments and preventative advice for men, including prostate, bowel, testicular and skin cancer risk, as well as cardiovascular health across life stages.
ADHD Management (Continuing Prescriptions)
Ongoing ADHD management appointments for eligible patients aged 6 and over, with continuing prescriptions provided in line with NSW Health requirements.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
Culturally respectful health care designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, including targeted health assessments to help close the gap.
Skin Cancer Checks & Mole Examinations
Head-to-toe skin examinations with dermatoscopy and magnified inspection. Where clinically appropriate, cryotherapy or minor procedures can be performed, with referrals arranged as needed.
ECG (Heart Tests)
Routine ECG testing as needed — especially for patients aged 75 and older — and provided on referral by your GP to assess heart rhythm and health.
On-site Pathology Collection
On-site pathology collection is available at the clinic. Results are sent directly to your GP.
Travel Vaccinations & Pre-Travel Advice
Most travel vaccinations are provided on site to support your travel preparation. Shire Family Medical is approved to provide Yellow Fever vaccination and can issue the required international certificate.
Yellow Fever Vaccination
Approved Yellow Fever vaccination centre in Sutherland, providing travel health advice, vaccination where clinically appropriate, and international certificates for eligible travellers.
Iron Infusions
On‑site Ferinject injections for patients with iron deficiency when oral supplements aren't effective or appropriate. Includes supervision, administration by a nurse, and follow‑up planning.
Workers' Compensation GP Services
Your nominated treating doctor for work-related injury — supporting you from initial assessment through to rehabilitation and return to work planning.
After-hours Care
For medical needs outside our opening hours, we partner with Sydmed to provide bulk-billed, after-hours home visits. Care is available when the clinic is closed, ensuring continued support for our patients.

Meet the Rest of Our Care Team
Our nurses, practice manager and reception team support your care—from first contact to follow-up. With over 60 years’ combined experience, Jackie, Kirstin, Ryan and Rebel assist with iron infusions, health assessments, GP Management Plans and immunisations. Michelle is our dietitian. Our practice manager, Lyndal, supports administrative enquiries. Our reception team—Diane, Sophie and Lexi—assists with bookings, follow-ups and general enquiries.
