About Dr Louis Traynor

A specialist background in acute and emergency care

Dr Louis Traynor trained as a dual specialist in Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, and holds Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) as well as Fellowship in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) through the Joint Training Committee with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. His background working in emergency departments gives him particular expertise in assessing and managing acute and subacute medical problems — from wounds and fractures to infections and abdominal pain — often using bedside ultrasound, a skill not commonly available in general practice.

Alongside his emergency medicine work, Dr Traynor has additional training in paediatrics and has a special interest in children’s vaccinations, baby checks and medication reviews. He also founded and runs our BRAVE Clinic, supporting patients of all ages who experience anxiety or phobia around blood tests and needles.

New patients welcome. Dr Traynor is currently accepting new patients.

Interests & Community

Louis lives locally in the Sutherland Shire with his wife Rebel and their four children. He is a passionate advocate for better urgent and after-hours care options for the Shire’s growing and ageing population.

As a father of four, Louis brings a personal perspective to his work with children — most visibly through the BRAVE Clinic, which he founded to give kids (and anyone anxious about needles) a calmer, more supportive experience at the doctor. He’s especially motivated by breaking the cycle where a bad medical experience in childhood leads to a lifelong fear of healthcare.
