Mixed Billing
Our standard billing model. Most patients pay a consultation fee with a Medicare rebate processed on the day.
Bulk Billing
Available for eligible patients — children 12 and under on weekdays, and some pensioners at the doctor’s discretion.
Private Billing
Applies to some procedures and specialised services. Medicare rebates may apply where eligible.

Consultation Fees
Standard GP Consultation Fees
All consultations include a Medicare rebate processed on the day for eligible patients. The out-of-pocket gap is the difference between the consultation fee and the Medicare rebate.

For general concerns, prescriptions, referrals, and minor issues
Long Appointment
Ideal for multiple concerns, mental health, or chronic condition reviews.
Extended Appointment
Ideal for more complex consultations or comprehensive assessments.

Bulk Billing & Discounted Rates
Shire Family Medical offers bulk billing and discounted rates for eligible patients as outlined below. Please bring your concession or pension card to your appointment.
Bulk Billed
- Children aged 12 and under — weekday appointments
- Children aged 5 and under — Saturday appointments
- Pensioners aged over 75 — at the doctor's discretion, weekdays only
- Ear suction/syringing — Pension and Healthcare Card holders

- Pensioners under 75 — at the doctor's discretion
- Health Care Card holders — at the doctor's discretion
Discounted rates are offered at the treating doctor’s discretion and are not guaranteed. Please bring your concession card.
Full Fees Apply
- All other patients on weekdays

- WorkCover and CTP claims (billed to the insurer)
Medicare rebates are processed on the day for eligible patients. Fees are payable at the time of consultation.
Saturday Appointments
- Standard Saturday fees apply to all patients
- Only children aged 5 and under are bulk billed on Saturdays
- All Saturday fees must be paid in full on the day

Special Billing Arrangements
WorkCover, CTP & Other Claims
WorkCover & CTP Claims
If attending under a WorkCover or CTP claim, you must bring your claim number and insurer details to your appointment. Billing is directed to the insurer. If the claim has not been accepted, standard fees apply on the day pending reimbursement.
Please inform reception when booking that your appointment relates to a WorkCover or CTP claim.
Payment Methods
We accept EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, and cash. Medicare rebates are processed on the day by our reception team. Fees are payable in full at the time of consultation.
Please bring your Medicare card and any concession cards to every appointment.
Third Party & Insurance Reports
Medical reports, insurance forms, and third-party documentation are privately billed. Fees vary depending on the complexity and length of the report required. These cannot be bulk-billed or rebated through Medicare.
Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA)
DVA gold and white card holders may be eligible for bulk-billed consultations under the DVA schedule. Please bring your DVA card to your appointment and inform reception when booking.

No — Shire Family Medical is a mixed billing practice. Bulk billing is available for eligible patients including children aged 12 and under on weekdays, and for some pensioners at the doctor’s discretion. All other patients pay a standard consultation fee with a Medicare rebate processed on the day.
For a standard weekday appointment at $98, the Medicare rebate is $43.90, leaving a typical out-of-pocket cost of approximately $54.10. Long appointments at $145 attract a rebate of $84.90, leaving approximately $60.10 out-of-pocket. Exact rebates are determined by Medicare.
Children aged 12 and under are bulk billed on weekday appointments. On Saturdays, only children aged 5 and under are bulk billed. Some specialised services such as ADHD management have full fees that apply for children regardless of age — see the procedures table above.
Yes. Saturday appointments attract a higher fee — $110 for a standard appointment (vs $98 on weekdays) and $155 for a long appointment (vs $145 on weekdays). All Saturday fees must be paid in full on the day. Only children aged 5 and under are bulk billed on Saturdays.
