What's Happening
Sutherland Doctors, the Adelong Street practice where Dr Philip (Phil) Loxley has cared for local families for more than 40 years, has joined Shire Family Medical. From Monday 2 November 2026, Dr Loxley consults from our clinic at Unit 2, 154 Flora Street, Sutherland, and the Adelong Street surgery closes.
Dr Loxley continues to work four and a half days a week. Practice nurse Sue Loxley and receptionists Kylie and Judy, who have been with the practice for more than 30 years, are moving across too. You can keep seeing the doctor who knows your history, supported by the people you already know.

Your Medical Records
Your medical records are held by Sutherland Doctors. We need your permission before we can transfer them to Shire Family Medical, so Dr Loxley has your full history at your first appointment here.
The consent form is online and works on a phone, tablet or computer. Please complete it before your next appointment. If you are completing it for a child or someone in your care, please include their details as the form asks.
Your privacy: Your records are transferred securely and handled under the Australian Privacy Principles. You can read how we look after your information in our privacy policy.

Dr Loxley sees his existing patients. If you were a Sutherland Doctors patient, you are an existing patient of Dr Loxley’s. If you are new to the practice, several of our other doctors are accepting new patients.

At Shire Family Medical
As a Shire Family Medical patient, you can also use the services we provide on site, often without leaving the building. Dr Loxley can talk with you about whether any of them suit your needs.
On-site pathology collection is available at the clinic, with results sent directly to your GP.
Head-to-toe skin examinations with dermatoscopy and magnified inspection, with cryotherapy or minor procedures performed where appropriate.
Routine ECG testing as needed, especially for patients aged 75 and older. Provided on referral by your GP to assess heart rhythm and health.
On-site iron infusion injections for patients with iron deficiency, including supervision, administration by a nurse, and follow-up planning.
We provide the full schedule of childhood immunisations on-site, in line with the National Immunisation Program.
Most travel vaccinations are provided on site to support your travel preparation, including destination-specific advice from our GPs.

No. If you were a Sutherland Doctors patient, you are an existing patient of Dr Loxley’s. Please complete the online consent form so your records can be transferred, and our reception team will check your details at your first visit.
From 2 November, appointments with Dr Loxley follow Shire Family Medical’s billing policy. You can see our current fees and bulk billing arrangements on our fees page, or ask reception when you book.
Your Sutherland Doctors records are only transferred to Shire Family Medical with your written consent. If you would prefer not to give consent, you can still be seen here as a new patient with a new file, but your previous history won’t be available to the doctor you see. Your Sutherland Doctors file will be retained securely by them for seven years, as required by law. You are also free to choose a different GP. If you change your mind, you can complete the consent form at any time, including after the move.

Yes. Dr Loxley continues to see his patients, and if he isn’t available you are welcome to book with any of our doctors. Your records are shared within the practice, so whoever you see has your history once your transfer consent is complete.
