Priority Appointments for Patients with Cold & Flu Symptoms
Our Unwell Clinic provides dedicated priority GP appointments for patients with cold and flu–like symptoms. These sessions help us assess you promptly while protecting other patients. Your GP will examine you, discuss management, and may arrange tests if clinically indicated.
Who This Clinic Is For
We run dedicated appointments to maintain the highest standards of infection control and protect others in the clinic. You may request an Unwell Clinic appointment if you are currently experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms. Cold or flu-like symptoms include:
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Sore throat
- Fever
- Shortness of breath
If you have severe symptoms (e.g., chest pain, severe shortness of breath, confusion, fainting, or a persistent high fever in a child), call 000 or attend your nearest emergency department.
Before Your Appointment
- Call reception from your car on arrival to let us know you are here
- Wear a mask when entering (available at reception).
What to Expect at Your Appointment
- Triage & check-in — we confirm your details and seating arrangements.
- GP assessment — history, examination and discussion of management options.
- Tests if indicated — your GP may perform a respiratory quadriplex swab ($6.50 supply fee) where clinically appropriate, or discuss other testing options. We now offer the quadriplex swab in the practice if indicated by your doctor.
- Care plan & follow-up — symptom relief, isolation/return-to-work guidance, scripts or certificates if appropriate, and when to seek further care.

Fees & Rebates
- Standard consultation fees apply.
- Concessions: Pensioner and Health Care Card holders may be eligible for discounted fees at the doctor’s discretion.
- Where applicable, Medicare rebates can be processed on the spot.
- Procedures, tests and materials (e.g., swab supply) may attract separate charges; your GP will advise beforehand.
After Hours Options
For medical needs outside our opening hours, we partner with Sydmed to provide bulk-billed, after-hours home visits. Care is available when the clinic is closed, ensuring continued support for our patients.
Infection Prevention
We use separate seating where possible, enhanced cleaning of high-touch areas, and request masks for all patients attending the Unwell Clinic. Please follow staff directions on arrival.
Accessibility
Our practice has step-free access. If you need assistance on arrival or prefer to wait outside, please call reception and we’ll arrange support.
