Dr Gary Franks is a registered medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). Patients can verify registration details on the official Ahpra public register.
Our principal GP, Dr Gary Franks, is a family man with three children and seven grandchildren.
For 40 years, Dr Franks has worked in general practice, establishing his own clinic here at Shire Family Medical in 2015. Gary enjoys the wide variety of work that comes with general practice, with a special interest in men’s health, skin cancer checks and management, minor surgery, chronic medical conditions, travel medicine and vaccinations, mental health, and antibiotic stewardship.
Dr Franks is also a qualified GP supervisor and contributes to the training of GP registrars and medical students. His interests and hobbies include local community involvement and annual overseas mission trips through his church, as well as spending time with family, swimming, surfing, and photography.
